VI° CONCORSO LA FENICE ET DES ARTISTES ANNO 2005

WHY A COMPETITION

A stay in La Fenice et des Artistes Hotel, enters in a live and current collection, made by art estimators who like to acquire works of art for personal delight and for giving great pleasure to their guests.
Like in the family sitting-room, paintings and sculptures are placed everywhere inside the hotel - in the halls, in the sitting-rooms, in the bed-rooms - so that the guest feels those belonging to him.
This feeling is confirmed by artist's writings who stayed in; the privacy, the delight to star in the own living-room sorrounded by works that it is often possible to see only in the museum, is one of the prevailing themes of the hotel guests' book.
The collection, increased during the years thanks to the Facchini's passion for art, founds in the competition idea a new impulse for becoming year by year richer of present day artists' new pieces.
But this is not the only reason for the competition. As once, the primary purpose of the property is to foster friendly relations among the artists who must feel as at home when at the hotel.
For the whole of the competition, the artists stay at the hotel for three days during which they link new collaborations; new initiatives raise, but above all, there is a festive and friendly air.

As for all past editions, the EDF is to give its support to the 6th “La Fenice et des Artistes“ competition, sponsored by Fenice Spa - the Group company specifically operating in environmental monitoring and protection.
The strategy implemented by EDF, world leader in the electrical sector, is strongly inspired by sustainable development principles, such as the environment, public services, social solidarity, and the protection and enhancement of the artistic and cultural heritage of the areas in which the Group operates.
EDF’s presence in Italy is not merely limited to the Fenice.
It also boasts a leading shareholding in Edison, Italy’s second most important electrical operator. Furthermore, EDF develops important projects regarding the exploitation of renewable resources.
The Group has already penetrated the Italian north eastern market, including Venice and its lagoon, to a considerable degree, particularly through Edison. Indeed, this is a priority region as regards developing the industrial activities of the Group’s various subsidiaries and investees.
For example, not many people know that Venice public lighting, which plays an important role in enhancing the city’s attractions and the quality of life of residents and tourists alike, was entirely renewed and is currently managed by one of EDF’s investees.
“La Fenice” competitions - traditionally inspired by environmental issues, the rational exploitation of resources and methods for safeguarding historical and artistic heritages - fully reflect EDF’s deep-seated ethical values.
It is with pleasure, therefore, that we have accepted the Competition Curator’s invitation to renew the Group’s contribution to the success of the event.
